Compact and elegant with plenty of hibiscus, cherries and mulberries that can't wait to present themselves to you. 

Chiroubles, often called the most quintessential Beaujolais Cru, features uniformly granitic soils, with some decomposed into sandy "gore," perfect for Gamay grapes. This terroir produces wines that are soft, easy to drink, and have mineral notes reminiscent of Fleurie and Morgon. With the highest vineyards in Beaujolais, up to 600 meters, Chiroubles benefits from a cool microclimate and steep slopes, resulting in fresh acidity and complex flavors despite its lightness.

Domaine Croix-Charnay

When we met last year at Salon Brutes in Alsace, we felt a stream of energy pulling us to their stand. There, we talked and laughed for over half an hour before we even started talking/tasting wine.

Life led them to this unexpected path in Beaujolais. Formerly immersed in the world of arts and culture in Paris, destiny brought them to this haven five years ago- a petite 1.5-hectare estate with only Gamay thriving in the rolling hills.

Here, they treat the lands with utmost reverence, embracing natural treatments for nurturing the vines. Every step is done by their very own hands, using pickaxes to gently work the soil and only natural remedies touching the vines.

The wines have all what we were looking for - playful fruit, compact tannins and an abundant finesse - while tasting you can feel the fun they had while creating their Cuvées.
